Ideal Fencing Corp installs cable barrier, concrete barrier, and impact attenuator systems on CDOT highway projects across Colorado — from the E-470 widening contracts visible in our project photo library to cable median barrier on I-76 and concrete temporary barrier on Front Range interchange reconstruction. Our Erie headquarters and Colorado Springs Adarand Constructors office provide statewide coverage for CDOT barrier work in all six engineering regions.

Cable Median Barrier on Colorado Interstates

Three-strand cable median barrier is the dominant median barrier system on Colorado's rural interstates — I-70 east of Denver, I-76, I-25 south of Pueblo, and US-50 east of Pueblo all have cable median barrier installed under CDOT Standard Plan M-614 series. We install anchor posts, line posts, cable tensioning hardware, and terminal end treatments for CDOT cable barrier systems. Cable barrier on Colorado interstates requires post installation in soils ranging from sandy loam on the Eastern Plains to expansive clay along the Front Range, and our post design adjusts embedment and backfill for each soil type.

Concrete Barrier and Temporary Barrier on Front Range Projects

Urban Front Range highway construction projects — I-25 express lanes, I-70 corridor reconstruction, and E-470 widening — use temporary precast concrete barrier (PCB) and permanent reinforced concrete median barrier extensively. We install temporary F-shape PCB for work zone delineation and permanent concrete barriers for median separation and bridge approaches. Our E-470 widening project work included bridge railing, concrete barriers, and impact attenuators installed under CDOT contract on one of Colorado's largest recent highway expansion projects.

Impact Attenuators at Interchange Ramp Terminals

CDOT requires MASH-tested impact attenuators at exposed ramp terminals, gore areas, and bridge end treatments across all six engineering regions. We install MASH TL-3 attenuator systems including sand barrel arrays, REACT 350 redirective attenuators, and QuadGuard systems at CDOT interchange locations. Attenuator installation requires precise anchoring to the underlying pavement structure, and we coordinate with CDOT resident engineers on anchor bolt placement drawings for each specific installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

We install three-strand cable median barrier systems under CDOT Standard Plan M-614 series, including Brifen wire rope safety fence, TL-3 and TL-4 rated systems, and all associated hardware — anchor posts, line posts, cable tensioning turnbuckles, and terminal end treatments. All cable barrier installations conform to the AASHTO Roadside Design Guide and CDOT project-specific design notes.

Yes. We install temporary precast concrete barrier (PCB) and permanent reinforced concrete median barrier on CDOT projects. Temporary PCB is placed for work zone delineation on Front Range urban projects, and permanent concrete barrier is installed per CDOT Standard Plans M-606 series on projects requiring positive protection median separation.

We install MASH-tested TL-3 impact attenuators including sand barrel arrays, REACT 350 redirective attenuators, QuadGuard systems, and TRACC attenuators at CDOT interchange and work zone locations. Installation follows CDOT Standard Plans and the manufacturer's approved installation manual. We coordinate anchor bolt placement with CDOT structural engineers on all permanent attenuator installations.

Yes. Bridge railing installation is part of our highway barrier scope. We install concrete bridge rail, steel bridge rail, and thrie beam bridge rail systems on CDOT bridge projects. Bridge rail installations are performed under CDOT Bridge Enterprise specifications and coordinated with CDOT structure engineers for each project.

On E-470 widening projects, our crews install cable barrier, concrete barrier, bridge railing, and impact attenuators under contract with the E-470 Public Highway Authority. These project types are documented in our project photo library and represent some of the most complex multi-system barrier installations we perform in the Denver metro area.
